The 2A workbook, primarily 1st grade, deals with all the things that happen with consonants—beginning blends, ending blend, digraphs, spelling changes at ends of words, as well as two rules for silent 'e'.

The 2B workbook, for 2nd and 3rd grade, covers all the things that happen with vowels—all the ways to spell a long 'i', 'e', 'a', when to double or not when adding a suffix, diphthongs, homonyms, and how 'r' affects the vowel.
